Your Monday Challenge

> Police officers in Staffordshire have been working in shifts to pour 2,500 cans of beer and hundreds of bottles of spirits and champagne down a toilet.

Firstly, read all about it here.

Then, see if you can think of a better way of disposing of all these alcoholic beverages. Leave your ideas in the comments.

If you’d read the article, you’d know that a judge had ordered the drinks to be destroyed. We have to stay within these parameters.

I was looking for suggestions along the lines of “Pack it all into a big rocket and fly it into the sun.”

And no, you can’t have that one.

I’m a little confused that they can’t pour it down the drains as Severn Trent will not let them … yet they can flush it down the toilet.. surely at some point it will reach Severn Trent?

I would pack it all into a big rocket and fly it into the sun.

D’oh

I was going to say that.

I agree with Adrian, btw. And I can’t say I’m a big fan of the police, but I do hope at least some of it finds its way into the backs of their cars and they have a few parties this weekend.

Oooh no, I’ve had a much better idea. Give it to all the people in the cells!

Lovely to meet you on Sat btw. Bernard is gorgeous. And I still feel guilty about the identity mix-up.

Line up all the local chavs, show them the lovely, lovely free to the world booze and force them to watch carefully as the local authorities pour bags of sugar into each and every can.

Then tell them they’re free to drink the stuff if they want, now that its ruined.

It seems that this weeklong effort must be very labor expensive and wasteful of lots of water. Won’t the alcohol mess with the ph levels in the sewage treatment center?

They should just mix it with the feed for local cows and pigs. They like beer well enough and who cares if they get wobbly on their feet?

I agree with the former secretary of the Police Federation. It’s a waste of time and money.

And beer.

AND liquour.

I also agree with Clare, I hope some of the filth have a few massive parties this weekend, with their illegal, stolen, unlicensed beer and booze. And that they smoke some confiscated dope at the party too. That would be COOL.

Do you want some dorky water-treatment answers? No? Well here goes anyway – stuff that goes down drains doesn’t always go through a sewage treatment works, it is discharged directly into rivers at times of high flow – and pouring 2500 cans of lager and hundreds of bottles down it could well create high flow! Alcohol is pH-neutral, so it wouldn’t mess with the acidity levels at the sewage treatment works. Hope someone has been moderately interested by this…..
