UPDATE: It’s a Amanita Muscaria

Photos that I’m fairly proud of.
Baby Pirates
Since introducing Cryptolaemus and Leptomastix to my conservatory three weeks ago I have been fretting constantly. The problem is that after releasing 9 of the former and about 50 of the latter into the room, they dispersed rapidly, and I didn’t really see much of them after that. I was worried that they had all disappeared entirely, either by finding a fissure somewhere that leads to the outside world, or at the hands of some unknown predator (eg a spider).
You can imagine my elation this morning when I spotted three or four of these creatures meandering amongst the mealybugs. A quick google confirmed my suspicion – they are Crypto babies!

Cricket
There’s a cricket in our bedroom. It appeared overnight, to give us a little private gig.
We’re wondering if it will have moved on to the next venue by this evening, or if it’s going to be in residency.
Stag beetle
As promised, a stag beetle.

Wildlife In The Garden
I went out into the garden today and saw a fab-looking spider, so I dashed off to get my camera.
And then a rather large dragonfly, one of the largest that I’ve ever seen, came fluttering past. “Please settle on a leaf somewhere,” I implored. The dragonfly obliged, and stayed there long enough for me to get half a dozen shots.
Rose Again
It seems like I photograph the same flowers in the garden every year. Maybe one day I’ll have a different garden.
Four Candles
Ventnor Beach.
The Needles. After taking this photo, we walked round to the old Battery (the building you can see on the top of the headland). However, by that time, the mist had come in, and visibility was lost.
When these little fellas turn and stare right at you, you can feel their eyes boring into you. Terrifying.
Lunch, obtained from the seafront at Sandown.
