{"id":1184,"date":"2008-12-31T15:29:01","date_gmt":"2008-12-31T15:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pete.nu\/blog\/?p=1184"},"modified":"2009-01-25T13:42:59","modified_gmt":"2009-01-25T13:42:59","slug":"blog-stunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pete.nu\/blog\/2008\/12\/31\/blog-stunt\/","title":{"rendered":"Blog Stunt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in late 2007 (and early 2008) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uborka.nu\/rise\/\">Karen<\/a> and I did a <a href=\"\/blog\/category\/stunt-2007\/\">blog stunt<\/a> where we would both write posts on the same subject, and publish them simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>Just now, Karen and I were talking about how back in 2005 we listened to a lot of music, which was partly because we went to <a href=\"\/blog\/tag\/reading-festival-2005\/\">Reading<\/a> that year. She mentioned how it would be nice to have a similar motivating force this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Maybe this is the answer.&#8221; I said, holding aloft the copy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Rough-Playlists-Guides-Reference-Titles\/dp\/1843537281\/\">The Rough Guide book of Playlists<\/a> that her dad bought me for Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>And that gave me an idea for the Rise\/Goo Blog Stunt 2009. Once a week we will randomly select a playlist from the book in question, spend a week listening to the specified 10 songs, and then write a few hundred words about it.<\/p>\n<p>The book has 417 pages, so we will use a <a href=\"http:\/\/random.org\/integers\/?num=1&#038;min=1&#038;max=417&#038;col=1&#038;base=10&#038;format=html&#038;rnd=new\">random number generator<\/a> to select the page. If there is more than one playlist starting on that page then we will use a coin toss to select it.<\/p>\n<h3>This week&#8217;s playlist<\/h3>\n<p>Random number: 152<br \/>\nPlaylists: Goth (Head), Grateful Dead (Tails)<br \/>\nCoin: Tails<\/p>\n<p>Grateful Dead it is.
